The Knot Best of Weddings: Why I Quit!
The time has finally come (after building my business for 12 years) where I have decided I am no longer paying to advertise on The Knot and Wedding Wire. Simply put, it’s incredibly expensive (about $2600 per year) and it doesn’t bring in enough business for it to be worth it. Here’s the inside scoop on why my business (and many others at the top of the industry) have left, and why you won’t find the best vendors there.
Announcing 2021 Spring & Summer Internships
This opportunity is designed for someone pursuing a career in graphic design for print. We are looking for candidates who have some intermediate graphic design skills, who are also comfortable working with their hands on the physical aspects of invitation and stationery production. We have a casual working environment, but the materials we produce are anything but casual. We are looking for candidates with an innate attention to detail, who are eager for hands-on experience in this refined segment of the design and event industry.
Etsy: Closing the shop
As of October 2020, Katherine Elizabeth Events is no longer selling on Etsy. I closed the shop, and I’m not looking back! It was an invaluable asset when I first started this company, and I likely never would have gone into business without the platform. But the time has come to move on, and to sell through my website only. Custom wedding invitation design is really where my heart is, and the items I sold on Etsy were sort of weighing me down.
I talk about in detail on my latest IGTV, but essentially the platform/marketplace has really changed over the years and it really was not feeling like it fit my workflow anymore. Plus, holy FEES. I’m over it.
If you’d like to purchase something you saw on Etsy at some point, please contact me here, and we can get working on something for you!
Wedding Wire Couple's Choice!
Katherine Elizabeth Events was named a Couple’s Choice winner in the category of Wedding Invitations for 2020, which really just carries through the award from 2019. Wedding Wire and The Knot are obviously aware that 2020 wasn’t much of a year for weddings, and so they are giving everyone who won the awards in 2019 the same award in 2020. So, cool? Thanks!
Cash Bar Weddings: Dos and Don'ts
Cash Bar Etiquette and Invitation Wording. Should you have a cash bar? How do you let your guests know about it? What should you expect?
Saying Goodbye to The Paper Florist
As of 2020, Katherine Elizabeth Events is no longer making and selling paper flowers, nor are we renting our beautiful paper flower backdrop. It was an experiment and an adventure, but in the end it wasn’t a sustainable part of our business and we had to call it quits. To our clients who have already booked, we will of course carry out our current contracts!
If you love paper flowers, we highly recommend searching for other artisans on Etsy; there are many talented artists selling similar pieces to what we were producing.
If you are looking to rent the paper flower backdrop, please contact For the Love of Details in Red Bank, NJ. They now rent our flower wall as part of their design/décor packages.
Thank you for your business over the 5 years we tirelessly worked on this part of the business. It was so fun and always challenging and rewarding!
XOXO,
Katie & the Team
